Lunar New Year 2025 celebrated the Year of the Snake at Disney California Adventure. Here’s a recap of what we experienced.

The Disneyland Resort celebrated Lunar New Year 2025 once again at Disney California Adventure, highlighting the Year of the Snake. While the event has come and gone, here’s a look back at what we experienced!

Year of the Snake

For those born in the year of the snake, it symbolizes wisdom, transformation, and personal growth. This year, they used Juju from The Princess and the Frog as the mascot.

Sip and Savor

One of the main draws for Lunar New Year is always the food, much like a Food & Wine Festival, but all the cuisine is inspired by a variety of asian cultures. If you plan on eating a lot, purchasing a Sip & Savor pass is a good value, especially if you’re a Magic Key (Annual Pass) Holder. There were three designs this year, each one representing a different country.

Mickey and Minnie are celebrating Korean New Year. Donald and Daisy are celebrating Chinese New Year. Goofy and Clarabelle Cow (not pictured) are celebrating Vietnamese New Year.

I tried several of the foods this year, but if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Mini Char Siu Pork Shanks ($9.25), the Strawberry Milk Tea Macaron ($8.50), and the Vietnamese BBQ Pork Chop ($30) from Lamplight Lounge. Other items were also pretty tasty, like the Tropical Coconut Cooler ($8), Mandarin Citrus Mule ($19), Mango and Coconut Sago Parfait ($7.29), Almond Cookie Bread Pudding ($7.49), and the Fire Chicken Wings ($9).

New Outfits!

Characters in Lunar New Year outfits is always fun, and this year, Mickey and Minnie were dressed in brand new Korean New Year costumes.

Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession

When Lunar New Year first began at Disney California Adventure, the Mulan New Year Procession was a stationary show near Paradise Garden Grill. But over the years, its popularity has grown to the point where it has now become a parade. While there was no “snake” costume created this year, the procession is still fun to watch.

Merchandise

Would a Disney event exist if there was no merchandise? Maybe, but it wouldn’t be as fun! Here’s a look at some of this year’s merchandise celebrating Lunar New Year…

There’s so much more during Lunar New Year not included in this post, like the special “Hurry Home” segment of World of Color, or the other characters you can meet, and a whole lot more food and decoration throughout the resort. It’s always a highlight and we look forward to seeing what Disney does for the Year of the Horse in 2026!
