The new series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, streaming now on Disney+, has given easter egg hunters quite a bit to enjoy in only two episodes. Since Skeleton Crew itself is an homage to adventure films from the 1980s, it only makes sense that they keep pulling from that era of Lucasfilm, from Star Tours to Captain EO to the lovable Ewoks, let’s take a closer look!
STARSPEEDER 1000
The Starspeeder 1000 makes a few appearances in the third episode of Skeleton Crew! Will this mean the Imagineers are hard at work creating a scene going to Borgo? Time will tell! While it would be more accurate to have the blues of the Starspeeder 3000, the current version of the ride travels to all points in time during the Star Wars Universe.
RX Droid
With his first appearance in 1987’s Star Tours at Disneyland Park, voiced by Paul Reubens, the droid has gone on to appear in the animated series Star Wars: Rebels as well the live action series The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian. In Skeleton Crew, the droid is a frustrated bus driver for the kids… the back of his head covered with wads of chewed gum.
Fuzzball
First appeared in the 1986 George Lucas produced Captain EO film starring Michael Jackson, Fuzzball is the brightly orange-colored creature that fluttered about but also played the bass. In Skeleton Crew, a group of Fuzzballs were trapped in a cage at the pirate Starport Borgo.
Teek aka Dinghy Driver
A creature known as a Teek is seen ferrying visitors from the docking area to Starport Borgo in Skeleton Crew. But we first met Teek in 1985’s Ewoks: Battle for Endor before seeing him in the safety video for Star Tours in 1987.
